A simple trattoria on the harbor of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Pasta & Pizza. They know what they do and it is exactly what one may expect…
Italian spirit and its famous “Pizza à la Truffe”. Always crowded and much appreciated by locals and tourists, the place remains casual & good.
On the harbor of Beaulieu-sur-mer, facing the yachts, this is a good tip for enjoying French Bistro specialties. Simply good and affordable, either for lunch or dinner, this is one of my favor restaurant in town (always good reviews).
This bistro is located in Beaulieu-sur-mer, at walking distance from the hotel, nearby the railway station. An ancient Garage has been completely renewed and refurbished but keeping “his soul”, and it is a nice result. Food is typical bistro, atmosphere is lively, not pretentious and fun. A good tip for a “walking distance” request.
On the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, scenically with its elevated position near the citadel and extensive view over the bay, the Mayssa is offering a wonderful location, hard to beat for a dinner view! Besides it, fish dishes give a wide choice with fresh produce. Tuna Sashimi, Crab Avocado, Iberian Pork… are making the place quite special, definitely off the beaten paths). Staff attentive and charming. You are seeking a lovely setting? You found it.
Seafood restaurant on the seafront in Villefranche-sur-Mer, serving fresh fish daily.
LA MÈRE GERMAINE
Fresh fish et shellfish since 1938. This restaurant is an “institution”. Lunch or dinner, you will be nicely seated facing the lovely harbor of Villefranche-sur-mer. Bouillabaisse specialty should be highly considered.
CHÂTEAU DE LA CHÈVRE D’OR Michelin **
An institution amongst the eating establishments of the French Riviera, Le Château de la Chèvre d’Or combines the highest ingredients to produce sophisticated tasting cuisine served in a high-class setting.
Stunning view, the massif with its pine forests that seem to plunge towards the Mediterranean.
LE MAS PROVENÇAL
Traditional Provencal restaurant serving risottos, suckling pig, rack of lamb and other house specialties. Open for dinner every night.
Feel like to be in Tahiti for a moment. Atmosphere is great and fun.
Excellent Italian restaurant, real Italian one (not so called one). Authentic cuisine, that’s what guests are seeking there… they find it.
LE CHANTECLER Michelin *
Aubusson tapestry, damask curtains and silk covered lamps. The fine and delicate dishes are not to be outdone. Using superb ingredients, the Chef creates inventive and ambitious cuisine.
LE BISTROT D’ANTOINE
The hearty bistro cuisine, with some southern French accents, has foodies hooked. Used to be fully booked (we all know why) so booking ahead of time is recommended.
LE SÉJOUR CAFÉ
Shelves filled with books, painting and photos adorning the walls: you feel as if you are in the living room of a lovely private home. Charming and delicious.
Dominique, the executive Chef is gifted. His restaurant and himself are so well known that they no longer need telephone. No reservation, no credit card, the place is all about the kitchen, incredibly tasty.
FLAVEUR Michelin **
2 Michelin-starred, very well deserved. The two brothers are really gifted. More than a meal, it is a truly outstanding experience. Amazing.
In the heart of the old city, here is the “Cours Saleya” (flower market, flea market, night life…) There is an “institution” for testing local cuisine as so famous “Petits farçis niçois” Simply casual and good.
BAR DES OISEAUX & COMPTOIR DU MARCHÉ
Reservation ahead of time is highly recommended. Reasonable prices, good food, French typical dishes.
Both located in the old part of the city, offering a warm atmosphere. Important: they have two seatings (so first or second service… ransom of success).
Highly ranked on TripAdvisor (amongst more than 1700 restaurants…) this bistro quickly made a name for itself… Simple and good, it offers just few different dishes, and it is all creative and good! Reservation is mandatory.
OLIVE ET ARTICHAUT
Local cuisine, mixed of various regions specialties, this is a place that local people are talking about. Once you went there, you know why.
Cozy and modern, this enlightened restaurant is offering a really tasty cuisine. Pretty small (booking is absolutely needed) and located just a few steps away from the Massena Square, this is the type of place that I like, the kind one people say “it is good!”
You are looking for a lovely bistro, in the old city, reasonable prices, warm welcome, and tasty dishes. You found it. No wonder why it is quite difficult to reserve a table, I suggest to make booking ahead of time…
On the seafront, set back from Cours Saleya (Old Town of Nice), this is a place to discover, a good way for testing tapas and simple dishes. Here people cook only fresh products, far from the tourist traps surrounding this area. All accompanied by a glass of well-chosen wine. Casual but fair & fun, worth mentioning.
LE CASTEL PLAGE
On the Promenade des Anglais, Castel Plage is a real institution in Nice, a sure value held for more than 30 years by the same family.
After a visit to the Old Town of Nice, cross the prom’ for lunch or dinner to the sound of the waves, with an exceptional view over the whole Baie des Anges. Mediterranean cuisine with fresh and seasonal products.
LE LOUIS XV Michelin ***
Probably (certainly) one of the best restaurant in France hosted into the Hotel de Paris. The food, the service, the place… Some say: Perfection. I do agree.
JOËL ROBUCHON Michelin **
Gastronomic Michelin starred restaurant serving Mediterranean dishes. A la carte or set menus, cooked in an open tepanyaki kitchen
YOSHI (Japanese) Michelin *
The second Joël Robuchon restaurant at the Metropole Monte-Carlo pays tribute to Japanese cuisine. Delicately flavored soups, sushi are created with “Yoshi” (means kindness).
Chic décor. You will be surrounded by good looking people (guests & staff). This Peruvian restaurant is definitely trendy. After Dubai, Coya ended up in Monaco… Keys of success remain the same! Reservation might be difficult, especially on summer, do not hesitate to talk to the Concierge’s desk (the sooner, the better).
This is a must visit restaurant in visiting Monte-Carlo for the first time, or any time for that matter. It offers a classy Monaco vibe without breaking the bank. This restaurant is an excellent location and has great interior design. It makes a great
introduction to Monaco: smart, chic and good food. Especially at lunch time with its set menu particularly good & affordable. Italian specialties are delicious or try the Black Cod and add the Apple Crumbled for dessert. So, the place is well worth a visit. Friendly service, often packed and good innovative and affordable food.
Japanese restaurant serving sushi, yaki tori and tempura dishes.
This “new” place is matching with its “sister restaurant” the Maya Bay. This time, you may enjoy food from India and Morocco.
QUAI DES ARTISTES
Brasserie and bar with menu in English. Seafood, salads, fish dishes and local specialties. Terrace with views over the port.
CAFÉ DE PARIS
Anything good at any time: THE brasserie on the Place du Casino in Monte-Carlo. From breakfast to dinner.
As his name suggests, this restaurant caters to meat eaters. Trendy atmosphere and popular.
LE PETIT BAR
Confidential. Tiny space, and super casual, but the food is just incredible, and people like it as it is. Ranked number 2 on TripAdvisor (can’t be wrong).
On the pedestrian street, nearby the Prince’s palace, in the heart of the old city, this place is constantly on 1st rank on TripAdvisor and there is no mystery in that. It is not the “place to see and to be seen”, it is just (and fortunately) a really nice restaurant, family atmosphere, food is simply delicious and the owners will bid you welcome with the most generous manner.
HOSTELLERIE JÉRÔME Michelin **
This superb Cistercian refectory (13 Century) is the setting for delicate cuisine. Passionate about ingredients, the chef uses the finest fishes and vegetables the region has to offer.
